The Betrayer

What should I write on this blog anymore? I realize that anything I say can and will be used against me. I realize that over and over people I trusted have betrayed me. This has become normal fact of life.

The Betrayer
You acted so righteous.
You acted so pious.
You really played the part well, didn't you?
You really had them all fooled, didn't you?
Even me.

Fooled no more.
Used again.
Trust has died.
Never to be resurrected.

Truth is a lie agreed upon.
We really agreed, didn't we?
Where was truth?
In a putrid cesspool of lies.

I was a pawn in little men's crusades.
Wearing a blindfold, I trusted.
Checkmated again.
But I play the game no more.

Nothing is as it seems.
No one is as they seem.
They all have their dark agendas,
Behind their fake smiles
And their empty encouragement.

You saw yourself as a savior.
You were nothing but another robber.
A soul robber.
A trickster behind smiling eyes.

You are not unique.
You only walked the well worn paths
Trod upon by so many others who have gone before.
You trod upon the muddy and rutted paths of my soul.
Same exploitation, different style.

Double-minded, double-life
You wear a clever mask.
Hiding behind your eccentricity and your 'Christian' love.
How righteous you are!

A carpetbagger is what you are.
A recycled perpetrator.
Same tune, another song.
You have infected my soul with a sickness.

I will find a way through this because I know.
I will walk in the light.
I will find truth.
Will you stay in the darkness?

I will remember.
I will learn.
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

Shame on you.

A "Foreign" Phenomena?

It is a safe bet that the majority of Americans reading the above story would be understandably empathetic and outraged at the plight of these girls and women half a world away. But would anyone doubt that this is taking place? How many Americans reading this article would question the actual veracity of the testimony of these unfortunates?
